I haven't seen much of Intern Sara this summer since she graduated from SCAD, but last I heard she was thinking of running away to Paris to go to culinary school or interning with National Geographic (our girl is a resourceful one, I tell you.)

Then last night she posted this on my Facebook page:

I know I promised not to hover/cling in my cover letter, but I may have taken a wrong turn. I have an interview at VOGUE tomorrow; I'm in New York right now. Before I left I made a mad dash to Custard to find something to wear and the only thing that I liked/fit properly was the dress YOU wore to the 5th anniversary party. So tomorrow I go to VOGUE inYOUR black and white dress. I kid you not. You've got a clone. Amazing turnout at the skirt! in the City party Thursday btw.

I felt as gorgeous as I'm ever gonna get that night, and I don't begrudge Sara for choosing the dress for such an important day. And if her wearing it is the closest I'm ever gonna get to the Vogue offices, so be it.

What the What is Ladylike?

Just YouTubed one of my favorite rocker babes, Storm Large, because her song "Ladylike" has been rattling around my brain all weekend. I used to see her perform all over the Bay Area in the 90's with her band, Storm and Her Dirty Mouth - Girlfriend's an unapologetic feminist who belts out her heart and soul. She was a Rockstar Supernova finalist a coupla years back, and though she clearly impressed Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro, they ultimately didn't choose her as their new lead singer (I suspect it's because she would've overpowered the band and the boys just couldn't handle it.)

Storm performed her original song on the show, but had to clean it up a lil' for primetime:

Drool-worthy Raffle Prizes at skirt! in the City

Holy Cannoli! Our skirt! in the City event at Rocks on the Roof next Thursday, Aug. 13 is gonna BANG.

There's no cover charge, 'cause we want everyone to spend a little cash on our raffle to benefit Sojourner of Savannah Women's Shelter, a division of the Inner City Night Shelter.

Here's the official prize list:

*A three-course dinner for two at Rocks on the River, the Bohemian Hotel's noshery with water views

Swapped to the Max

Though it's been almost two decades since my freegan outlaw days when I used to dumpster dive my dinner on occasion (you gonna blanche at barely-expired fresh-squeezed orange juice and day-old apple pies at Whole Foods?), I still keep up my one of my favorite paycheck-less pastimes: Clothing swaps.

Look, times are tough, and the urge to shop dies hard. Even if you're not on a budget, everyone has to clean out her closet eventually. Clothing swaps are a superfun, cheap, environmentally-sensitive way to have a women's party: I invite 10-15 of my favorite well-dressed friends to bring over a bag or two of their gently-used sick-of-its and never-gonna-fit-agains plus a snack. I buy the wine and it's good times and fabulous finds for all! Check the action on the balcony last weekend:

Of course there were plenty of "America's Top Model" moments:

And at least one "I've Had Four Glasses of Sangria" moment. Whatchy'all think - should I wear this to the skirt! in the City party next month?
