In addition to issues like water conservation and neighborhood pollution, the founder of Youth For A Cleaner Environment has to deal with attitude.

“Sometimes we get kids just here to do their community service. They might rebel at first, but soon enough they’re inspired.”

Janice served as president of Keep Savannah Beautiful in the late 90’s and began YFACE as a way to share her passion for the environment with the city’s youngest citizens. Throughout the year the group – ages 5 through 25 -picks up litter from local beaches, removes debris from seniors’ yards and last May hosted their first Recycling Roundup at Lake Mayer.

A general clerk at the U.S. Post Office for the past 32 years, this green goddess spends her evenings and weekends raising the consciousness of the community’s “future inheritors.”
