


Nothing like scarfing schwarma and falafel (what this city needs is MORE Middle Eastern restaurants) and kicking back in the park: Yesterday’s fabulous weather brought out tons of folks to Forsyth for the Israel@60 Festival sponsored by the City of Savannah.
All the tasties, exhibits, entertainment and giveaways would have been enough, but someone decided to go ahead and book international sensation Pharoah’s Daughter for the Concert for Peace, bringing even the heat-exhausted to their feet (not an easy task when the stomachs attached to those feet are full of schwarma.)
If you haven’t heard of PD and frontwoman Basya Schetcher, get thee to thy downloads now – the new album Haran is on heavy rotation in this skirt! office for its perfect blend of eclectic beats and mellow harmonies. Basya herself bravely crosses cultures, musical genres and spicy political ideals to create something exotic and accessible all at once – here she is, flanked by violinist Meg Okura, bass master Shanir Blumenkranz and woodwind virtuoso Daphne Mor:

Ummmm. Give me a minute. I'm still collecting myself after reading the cane post. Damn. You "totally" just f'd up my facial self tanner. That was beautiful! Please accept my congratulations on your superb funny bone, and my thankfulness at having been able to read your brain on screen. Good times!
By the way, I once ate my weight in falafel and fries in D.C. :)
