Thanks to all who showed for our magnificent “THIS Is What A Feminist Looks Like” Cocktail Bash! Y’all looked gorgeous. As promised, I wore my orange Doc Martens with my Max Studio frock – I felt somebody had to represent the combat boot contigency, and besides, I haven’t had a chance to wear them since my Haight Ashbury days.
We’re so excited that skirt! publisher and founder Nikki Hardin made the trek from Charleston along with the most awesome editrices around, Margaret Pilarski and Sabrina Heise. Plus Savannah Derby Girl “Fear Abby” put in an appearance – Check out the photos here!
Another big kiss to the folks at Moon River Brewing Co., who laid out a delectable spread, poured big a** beers and kept the wine flowing all night (rumor has it that we went through twice the estimated amount...eeeps!) DJ Epiphany kept everyone moving, spinning her crazy-amazey beats that had even the serious academics in the room bobbing their heads.
Speaking of which, this party had purpose: We awarded scholarships to Armstrong Atlantic State University seniors Holly Arena and Claire Gates for their academic accomplishments. Both Holly and Claire are graduating this year with degrees in Gender and Women’s Studies, and we at skirt! wanted to recognize the work that lays ahead.
The numbers aren’t official, but over 175 of y’all attended and we were able to raise lots o’ cash for the skirt! Scholarship Fund – more parties and scholarships to come!
